I wore my first baby. I read all about the benefits of baby wearing, and I knew I wanted that for my girl. I wore my second baby too, and I started to see that wearing her was not just beneficial to her development. It made my life easier! I mean, caring for a baby is a whole new ball game when you’ve got a toddler running around!
Now that we are a family of 5, baby wearing has become that much more of a lifesaver for me. With TWO wild little girls running around, it’s either wear Little Mister or go stir crazy.
I’ve been using the Ergobaby ADAPT Carrier this time around, and it’s pretty great. It doesn’t use an infant insert because it’s completely adjustable for babies from infancy to toddlerhood. That little detail makes it super easy to put on and take off. That makes a huge difference when you are trying to put it on and take it off in the car before going into a store or something.
Another thing that I think is pretty cool about the Ergobaby ADAPT Carrier is that it can be adjusted for three different carrying positions. When my little guy is a bit bigger, I’ll be able to wear him on my hip or on my back. Then I’ll really be able to move around and get stuff done! And he’ll get to keep being held and getting snuggles.
The Five Times Baby Wearing Makes My Life Easier
While Getting Work Done
As a work-at-home-mom, I am constantly balancing getting work done with taking care of my three little ones. And my little guy really loves to be held. Baby wearing lets me hold him and snuggle him and get a little work done at the same time.
In the Yard
My kiddos get outside to play every day, but they are not big enough to be in the yard alone. And they love to help weed and water the garden. Between playing, gardening, and just plain old yard work, we’re outdoors quite a bit. That wouldn’t be possible for me without wearing Mr. P. The Ergobaby ADAPT is perfect for gardening because it has great support for baby’s head while you’re bending and reaching.
At the Park
Regular trips to the park are a summer time must for our family. It’s a free and easy way to get my kids out of the house! And our park system is pretty amazing, so it’s lots of fun for them. But my kids are little, and call me a helicopter parent but I am not the mom sitting on the bench letting her kids run free. I’m constantly walking along, following them around the playground. That get’s rather difficult with a stroller because the playground structures are large and winding. I’ve been wearing Mr. P. at the park this summer, and it’s been a game changer!
I remember the first time I went to the grocery store after having my first baby. I entered the store with Little Miss S in her infant car seat and automatically went to the cart corral. That’s when I realized my mistake. If I put the infant car seat in the cart, there would be no room for groceries! From that day on, I wore her while shopping. I did the same with my second baby, and now my third. It is so much easier!
While Walking the Dog
Walking is such a great way to get moving again after having a baby. But have you ever tried to walk a dog while pushing a stroller? No? I’m the only one who didn’t think that one through before trying it? Because it’s not easy. In fact, if you’re dog prefers the zig-zag method of walking on a leash, it’s near impossible. So, once again, baby wearing is the solution.
I can’t imagine trying to get any of these things accomplished without wearing my sweet little guy. If you were to ask me what baby gear is absolutely essential, a good carrier would be on that list. It’s so great for baby, and it’s great for moms and siblings too!
